Lloyd Roland Waldron Obituary
Lloyd Roland Waldron passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 22, surrounded by
his family. Lloyd was 86 years old and leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Unice Waldron; sons
Wayne, Scott, and Brian Waldron; and daughters Lisa Waldron and Annette McBreairty. He also
leaves 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and his sisters Jeanne Wright and Nancy Day. He
was predeceased by his sister Lottie Day and his brother Ronald Waldron.
Lloyd loved music and played several instruments by ear, having never learned how to read
music. He played in a country music band and wrote and recorded several songs. In addition to
his love of music, he loved to write; he published a children’s book, “Ponytails, Tattoos and
Smiling Faces,” and was known to write poems for graduation, anniversary, and birthday gifts.
During the '80s, Lloyd loved to talk on his CB radio using the handle “Yellow Canary,” named
after a bright yellow truck he drove at the time. He loved hosting parties and was known for his
“CB picnics,” where people who had never met face-to-face came together to celebrate their
hobby.
He loved to fish and looked forward each year to family vacations in New Hampshire and
Maine, where he could simply hang out on the beach with his family. He also loved to play
cards; every Monday night was card night at the Waldron house, where the guys would gather to
play setback. A man of faith, Lloyd was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, where he
taught Sunday school for many years.
Lloyd was a hard worker who owned several businesses and worked nights for many years as a
Washington Town Constable. He loved to help others and was always the first to volunteer his
time. A collector of antiques, he ran an antique store, Triple Pines, out of his father’s garage on
the weekends.
But more than anything, Lloyd loved his family. He was always in attendance at his children’s
and grandchildren’s activities, cheering from the sidelines or sitting in the crowd during concerts
and plays. He lived a simple but beautiful life.
All are welcome to attend a celebration of life service that will be held at St. Andrew’s
Episcopal Church in Marbledale at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 9th. A short service will
follow at Underwood Cemetery, then there will be a picnic at the Pavilion in Washington Depot
following the services.
