Marlene Oldham

October 12, 1938 ~ September 29, 2021 (age 82)


Marlene M.R. Oldham was a longtime resident of Thomaston. She was born in Sanford Maine, and lived in southern Maine until moving to Watertown CT. Marlene passed away peacefully 9/29/2021. She was 82 years old.

She was born in Sanford Maine, the daughter of Paul and Mae Reeves.
Graduate of Watertown High School and Waterbury School of Nursing class of 1960, she passed the state board exam to be a Registered Nurse. She held multiple state RN licenses for decades. She attended continuing education striving to enrich her RN healthcare knowledge. Marlene started her RN career in labor and delivery at Waterbury Hospital. She worked as a floor nurse, a floor supervisor and private duty nurse at Waterbury Hospital for many years. She then worked at several long-term care facilities. Marlene truly loved her career. Marlene drove through countless New England snowstorms to help family, friends and she filled additional RN work shifts when there was a need.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a Girl Scout Leader who helped several girls attain the Gold Award. She enjoyed family times, friends, sewing projects, reading, word puzzles, family adventurous vacations and more. She will be remembered for her unconditional love of family and friends, faith, friendliness, unreserved compliments to strangers and her smile.
She is survived by her 3 children Wendy with spouse Greg, Dayna and Jon-Paul with spouse Jean, seven grandchildren Michelle, Kyle with spouse Danielle, Samantha, Ashley, Amanda, Denis and Brent, three great grandchildren Breyden, Riley and Lenard. She was predeceased by the love of her life husband Lenard who called her Molly and sometimes Blue Eyes in their many letters while Lenard served his Country. They met at a Nursing School dance. They were married for 49 years. Their devotion and love for each other is a testament to their children.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Luddy - Peterson Funeral Home, 205 S. Main Street, New Britain, CT. 06051. As per her request there will be no calling hours and funeral. She wanted people to remember her as they knew her in life. She is surely missed by all that knew her.
