Maura Therese (McClure) Davies Obituary

Maura McClure Davies, 87, of Southington, CT and The Savanna Club Port St. Lucie, FL passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, in Southington CT.  She was the dearest wife of Fred Davies for over 40 years.


She was born January 10th, 1939, in Belfast, Ireland to Patrick McClure and Mary (White) McClure. She is survived by her loving sister Noreen McClure Thompson and her husband Winston of Southington, CT, her brother James McClure and his wife Ursula of Perth, Australia, Sister-in-Law Bridie McClure of Southington. Stepdaughters Claire Davies (Ian Dutt) London England, and Gail (Derrick) Porter of Devon, England, and Granddaughters Jade (Chris) Kent, Devon, England, and Hollie (Ash)Wonnacott of England, Lily Dutt of London England, and Great grand-daughters Tabitha, Elodie and great-grandson Sullivan. 


She was predeceased by her brother Patrick McClure, sister-in-law Iris Orr, brother-in-law George Orr, nephew Paul Thompson and great nephew Patrick Aidan Morgan. 


Maura was blessed with many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews and their children.

Maura told everyone she met “how lucky am I? “ She was talking about all the wonderful family she had sister, brother, stepdaughters, their partners, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, greats, cousins, in-laws, boyfriends, girlfriends, family friends who felt like family it didn't matter if you were talking with auntie Maura you were the most important person at that moment in the room or on the phone. “I have all this wonderful family.” She truly cherished each and every one of her beloved family all around the world. She was Godmother to Bobby, Gerard and Oliver as well as Kathleen DaCorte and Michael Misarski. 


Maura immigrated from Ireland to Southington CT in 1971 She worked for Estee Lauder at G.Fox in Meriden Square for many decades.  She was well known for her beautiful smile and enchanting accent and loved by all who met her.  She volunteered in a variety of ministries such as knitting prayer shawls, Lady's Auxiliary at Savanna Club, volunteering weekly at the gift shop at the Bradley Memorial Hospital sharing her creativity and talent for display and window decorating. Maura was a talented pattern maker, seamstress and she shared her talent and love for beautiful fabric when her nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, godchildren planned their first communions, proms, orchestra/concert performances, and weddings or any special occasion that required an new dress, suit or outfit. Auntie Maura was usually the first call. 


A woman of deep faith, Maura was a devoted parishioner of St. Luke’s Parish and formerly at St. Thomas Church in Southington.  She enjoyed life to the fullest, As well as wintering in Florida and her many adventures to the beach she loved to travel to Morocco, Australia, Greece, Spain, Italy, England, Wales, Ireland, her beloved Belfast and all across the United States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Aruba and multiple other islands. Her motto was ‘travel while you are young, don't wait.”  She surrounded herself with numerous friends, Bocce, Mahjong, Opera, NYC, golf, Broadway shows, tea parties and celebrating holidays and most of all spending time with people she loved and who loved and adored her.  


Services include a Mass of remembrance will be on June 11th, at 11 am at St Luke Parish in Southington CT at St Dominic Church Southington, CT.
