Nancy Cleveland

Nancy Cleveland, 82, a loving and devoted mother, entered into final rest on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew her.  Born on July 12, 1941 in New Britain, CT, daughter of the late Anthony and Kathryn (Martin) Karosis, she was a lifelong resident of New Britain and a devoted wife of 13 years to her late husband Carlie Cleveland. Nancy worked at the New Britain Senior Center for 35 years where she started as part-time ceramics teacher, then became a full-time receptionist. In her later years, she became the Activities Coordinator where she entertained the seniors on many exciting and memorable trips. She was loved by all who partook in her travel adventures. 

Nancy was a kind and compassionate person who always put the needs of others before her own. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and friend, and her warmth and generosity touched countless lives. Nancy will be remembered for her culinary skills, her artistry, her laughter, and her love for shopping and entertaining. Nancy loved the beach and especially the holidays with family and friends. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched and the love she shared with all.

She is survived by her children, Michael Leiner and his wife Diane, Thomas Leiner and his wife Ingrid, and daughter Kathleen Leiner who will cherish her memory and continue to be inspired by her love and guidance. She is survived by her grandchild, Shaun Koch and his partner Tammy. She is survived also by her brothers Thom Karo and his wife Leah, Anthony (Tony) Karosis, and extended nieces and nephews.

The family extends a special thanks to the Jerome Home care team and to the compassionate healthcare providers at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain.


Burial will be private.  Rest in peace, dear Mom.  Your love and memory will never be forgotten.
