Obed Cruz

Obed Cruz of Suffield, CT, passed away peacefully, on January 15, 2020. He was born is Lares, PR, on January 30, 1955 to the late Dolores Santiago and Confesor Cruz.

Obed is survived by his sons, Obed Cruz, Jr., of FL, Tony Cruz and his wife Angelica of FL, Obed M. Genovese of CT, Roman Oliszczak on NH; his daughters Maria Garcia and her husband Gamalier of FL, Maribel Cruz of MA, Karen Avery and her fiancé Philip of CT, Mariana Oliszczak of NH; his brothers, Aminadab "Charlie" Cruz and his wife Raquel of MA, Ahyra Cruz of PR, Eugenio Cruz and his wife Maria of MA, Elud Cruz of PR, Naasson Cruz and his wife Christine of CT, Herminio Cruz of PR, Aurea Cruz and Gilberto Ortiz-Perez of MA, Robert Corujo of PA, Elbert Corujo and his wife Evelyn of CT; his sister Olga Ortiz of CT; eleven grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and Marina Oliszczak, his longtime dearest friend who has been his saving grace over the years.

Besides his parents, Obed is predeceased by his sisters, Madeline Cruz and Ana Elba Cruz.

Obed was an avid car fan, he loved working on models and rebuilding the real thing. His favorite past time was watching a good action movie, and cooking, which he perfected very well. He recently became interested in building gas motor bikes. He just couldn't seem to sit still.

Obed, you will be greatly missed. Your Smile, your jokes, your dreams for your grandchildren, the love you had for you family and friends, and your courageous fight to the end.

Services for Obed will be held Monday, January 20, from 5 to 7pm at the Luddy-Peterson Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St. New Britain
