Patricia R. Stanley, 85, of Meriden, CT passed away on 12/24/24 at her home peacefully. She was married for 59 1/2 years to Arthur C. Stanley and lovingly raised five children together.
Patricia, affectionately known to most as Pat, was the oldest of six children by Lieutenant Robert J. and Leocardia (Pinkos) Sheehy of South Portland, Maine. She was very proud of her Irish and Polish heritage. As a child of a career Army veteran, she grew up during World War II traveling the country and Europe. Her family returned from Germany where she graduated from South Portland High School in 1957. She married Arthur Stanley of Falmouth, Maine and moved to Meriden, Connecticut in 1966 for his employment. Pat’s main priority was being an exceptional mother to her family. She worked for the Meriden School System in their food service department for several years while her two youngest were in high school. Pat went to work later on at The Lane Construction Corporation in their office administration department retiring after 20 years of service.
Pat loved the beach, trips to Maine, family vacations and being near the water. She spent most of her time sailing on their J30, cruising the east coast and CT River with her husband. She enjoyed home-improvement projects, flower gardening, reading and hosting all family gatherings (at any excuse possible).
She was the heart of the Stanley family. We will all miss the feeling of her epic hugs and sight of that sparkle in her eyes when she saw us. The love she poured into her family will fill our hearts forever.
Patricia leaves behind her 5 children: Sandra Cercone of Boca Raton, FL, Terri (Mark) Hooper, of Port St Lucie, FL, Jeffrey Stanley of Portland, CT, Kathleen McConnell of Columbus, IN, and Matthew (Pamela) Stanley of Sulphur, KY. Her siblings: Valerie Conner of New Ipswich, NH, Robyn Hogan of Portland, ME, Robert Sheehy Jr. of South Portland, ME and Timothy Sheehy of New Paltz, NY. She is predeceased by sister Cynthia Wiktor of Crown Point, IN. Pat has always held a special place in her heart for her brothers and sister-in-laws, especially sister-in-law, Sandy Keroack of Falmouth, Maine.
She enjoyed every minute she could get with her 13 grandchildren, Robert Jr. (Robbie), Ryan, Greg, Kimberly, Mark Jr., Amber, Jessica, Jeffrey Jr, Morgan, Kiersten, Evan, Aislin, Matthew Jr. and 4 great grandchildren, Markie, Angelina, Cole & Stella. She will be remembered as Aunt Pat to many nieces and nephews.
Patricia did not want a formal funeral service but instead she wanted a joyous celebration, a gathering of close family and friends to celebrate her life. This celebration will take place in the Spring of 2025. Patricia’s cremated remains will be buried with Arthur upon his passing and laid to rest together at Pine Grove Cemetery in Falmouth, ME. Condolences can be expressed on this page.
