Tad Giles 6/6/44 - 10/5/22
Paul Tad Trafton Giles, Jr came into this world as a rambunctious boy on June 7, 1944. Always interested in stories and quite the adventurer. His most treasured memories from childhood were of his summer vacations with his mother in Maine. Tad lived a life of service. He served as a medic in the Army on the front lines during the Vietnam war. He started in culinary arts at age 16 and worked for 60 years before hanging up his chef hat. He could make Anything - but most impressive were his handmade uniquely crafted artisan desserts. Most missed by others might be the simple homemade chocolate chip pancakes. He would also try to do Anything - a tinkerer in a wizard-like way. For several years, he worked on a 3-story tree fort dubbed Camelot, complete with zip line, slide, monkey bars, bike shed - constructed entirely from materials found at the dump every weekend. Tad never met an animal he didn't love. He was quite the Dr. Doolittle, often bringing home wild animals and strays to add to the menagerie. And even though he spoiled and overfed them all, many lived well past normal life expectancy from his love. He also loved learning new information of any kind. He was a speed reader and avid lover of all things sci-fi and fantasy. He passed his love of knowledge, nature, and animals on to his children, Colin Giles of Norwich, CT, Elyse Jupiter of Clarkston, GA, and Trevor Giles of Essex, CT. He is also survived by his bonus daughter, Sharene Jupiter, and his beloved grandchildren, Colin Giles, Jr, Casey Giles. Josiah Jupiter, and Tobias Jupiter. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the World Wildlife Fund in his name or adopting a stray when you choose your next pet. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services.
