Pauline Anastasia McDonald, born June 9, 1933, in Spanish Town, Jamaica, passed
away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion to family. She
married Barrington McDonald on July 18, 1970, in Toronto, Canada, and later became
an American citizen on December 14, 1978.
Pauline came to America as a young woman, first working as a nanny before dedicating
most of her professional life to caring for others as a nurse at Stamford Hospital in
Stamford, Connecticut. Her work reflected the qualities that defined her—steadiness,
compassion, and a deep commitment to helping others.
For the past 30 years, Pauline made her home in Norwalk, Connecticut, where her
greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother as well as a
supportive sister and aunt whose warmth, grace, and kindness will be dearly missed.
A woman of great faith, Pauline found comfort and strength in prayer. Her faith
guided the way she loved, served, and stood firmly for what was right, and it
remained a steady source of peace throughout her life.
Pauline was known for her strength and compassion, earning the loving nickname
“Tuffy” from her son, Phillip. She always stood up for what she believed was right and
never allowed anyone to take advantage of her family. Her niece Doreth fondly
remembers her Aunt Pauline giving the children ten shillings to go to the fair—one of
her sweetest memories of growing up in Jamaica.
Pauline is survived by her beloved husband, Barrington McDonald; her loving son,
Phillip McDonald; her sister, Fay Lewis; her brother, Donald Lewis; her nieces and
nephews, Jennifer Goodall, Tony Goodall, Douglas Goodall, Doreth Goodall, Ronald
Lewis, David Lewis, Chris “Patricia” Moore.
Pauline will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life memorial will be planned at a future
date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Regional Hospice of CT,
