Phyllis Ann (Funaro) Stanford

Phyllis Ann Funaro Stanford, born November 11, 1940 passed from this life peacefully on March 19, 2020, after a long illness.

She leaves behind her loving husband and soulmate of 59 years, Leroy Stanford.  She also leaves one brother, Raymond (Shirley) Funaro, and sister-in-law Susan Funaro.  Predeceased by brother, Frank Funaro.  She leaves two children, Dawn (Frederick) Swan, and Raymond Stanford; four grandchildren, Jennifer Foster, Keven (Elizabeth Richard) Swan, Christiana Swan (Wallace Hallowell), and  Brian Swan; two great-grandchildren, Orion Foster and Coleman Foster; and  many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She always said that Leroy was so handsome in his uniform and his blue eyes.  It was love at first sight.  In their younger years they enjoyed roller skating competitively. They were Northeast Champions in their division in 1983.

Phyllis treasured her family.  There was always a reason to gather and something to celebrate.  She was always happiest surrounded by her whole family and friends playing Bocce and eating our family specialties.

Every week she enjoyed going to different restaurants with her favorite nephew, Leroy Stanford, and special niece, Milly.  She was so proud to have brought them closer together.

She was a strong woman who led by example.  She had a life well lived.  She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
