Raymond E. Hanson

Raymond E. Hanson, 75, of Van Buren, Maine passed away peacefully on Saturday March 26, 2022, surrounded by family.  

Ray was born in Saint Basil, New Brunswick on August 22, 1946, the son of Marie (Melanson) and Edgar Hanson. He moved to Connecticut at the age of 17, where he worked in Construction for 27 years. In 2005, the family moved to Maine to be closer to Ray’s New Brunswick roots. He loved his family, brook fishing, playing Slot-Mania and Spades on the computer and most especially, his grandchildren.

Ray is survived by his Wife Shirley of 26 years, and their children Amber, Ashley and Timothy Hanson, his stepsons Ed and Mike Hull, and Chris Nosal, stepdaughter Doreen Greenleaf; 12 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren, his sister Evelyn Fortin and brother Fred Melanson, his Niece Yvette (Fortin) Poitras and his Nephew Eric Fortin. He was preceded in death by his sisters Pauline Pond and Greta Levesque, and brothers Edgar, Linwood, and Ervin Hanson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 2, 2022 at 1:00pm at the Old Saybrook VFW. A special service will be held in Maine at a later date.
