Richard Bonfiglio Obituary

Richard (Richie) Bonfiglio, 74, of Kensington, CT passed away peacefully on October 2, 2021 after a hard fought battle with stem cell transplant complications.  During his final moments and his journey to eternal life with the Lord he was surrounded by the love of his life and wife, Carol Bonfiglio and his beautiful children, son Richard (Ricky) Bonfiglio and his daughter-in-law Christina, Jaime Bonfiglio and his daughter-in-law Rosa Fazzino and daughter, Erica Bonfiglio.   Born in New Britain, on August 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Helen and Thomas “Guy” Bonfiglio.

He also leaves behind the joys of his life, his four beautiful granddaughters, Gabriella (Gabby), Emma, Isabella (Bella) and Holly.  “Poppy” loved and adored his girls.  They will hold dear to their hearts all the memories they have of their beloved Poppy.  He was also blessed with two grandsons, Joshua and Sebastian, and a granddaughter Julia.

Richie is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Janice and Lincoln Versachi, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter and Eileen Centurelli and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.  He is also predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sophie and Perry Centurelli and several dear aunts and uncles.

Richie grew up in New Britain and attended St. Mary’s school and graduated from New Britain High.  He went on to work for Tuttle & Bailey in New Britain and later worked and retired from the State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation.

He was a member of the TGM Club and the “Good Old Boys” both of New Britain.  He had a strong faith in God and always helped those who were in need.

Richie was blessed with many life long friends who are like family.  They will miss “Bono” and all the good times they have had over his lifetime.

Richie was a loving and loyal, husband, father, Poppy, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.  He was loved by all who knew him.  A part of our hearts has gone with him and he will forever be missed.
