Rita E Oakes

Rita Oakes, longtime resident of New Britain passed away on January 25,2025 she was 90.

Born in St. Eusebe Quebec, Canada. She was the daughter of Thomas and Eugenie St. Pierre. She was employed at Ledgecrest Convalescent Home as a CNA for over 30 years.

She was a member of St. Jerome church. She enjoyed crocheting blankets, dancing, playing cards, puzzles and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her laughter, joy of life, kindness and generosity towards others.

She is survived by her five children Mona Oakes and Mark Bruno of Jamison P.A, Ginette Kenny and Sterling of Plainville CT, Lucille Voisine and Gary of New Britain CT, Claude Oakes and Susan of Enfield CT, Gary Oakes and JoAnne of Plainville CT.

Two brothers Jules St. Pierre and Thomas St. Pierre, her sister Fernande Brideau as well as her two sister-in-law’s Jeannine Charette and Dora Ploarde and her brother-in-law Ermel Oakes.

She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren Tyrone, Michael, Melissa, Matthew, Allen, Melinda, Amanda, Ricky, Sara, Tyler and Madison. Her 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many many other nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her  loving husband Alphonse Oakes September 1,2013 and her loving and affectionate grandson Jason Voisine December 23, 2021.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday January 29, 2025 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Luddy and Peterson Funeral Home located at 205 South Main St New Britain CT 06051. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
