Robert J. Pysar, Sr., 91, of Plainville, loving husband of Mary Pysar (Marotto), passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Bob was born in Scranton, PA, on December 7, 1932. He was the son of the late Zigmund and Helen (Galida) Pysar and was predeceased by his sister, Dolores Garber. He proudly served as a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean war. Bob met the love of his life in the summer of 1951 at Lake Compounce in Bristol while with friends. As Bob’s dementia progressed, he never forgot how he met his wife. He found comfort in sharing his story with us and he shared it with so much love and happiness.
Bob worked at Pratt & Whitney for 30 years before retiring in 1992. During his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed the spring and summer months at their cottage on Sheepscot Lake in Palermo, Maine where all the family would come to visit. Bob enjoyed his time on the lake fishing and taking everyone out on his boats to fish, ski and go tubing. During the winter months, they would enjoy their time in New Smyrna Beach, FL where he would surf fish and proudly bring home his catch of the day.
Bob enjoyed gardening and would spend all day outside meticulously caring for his vegetable garden and his yard. He loved tinkering around the house, and he could build or fix anything that was brought to him. He was a hard worker, a loving, caring and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who treasured time spent with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
In addition to his wife Mary, he leaves behind his three daughters, Donna (Ted) Levandowski, Robin Pysar, Karen (John) Gobar, his son Robert J. Pysar Jr. (Sheila). His grandchildren, Robert J. Pysar III (Devin), Michael Levandowski, Marc (Amanda) Levandowski and Austin Sanchez. His great grandchildren Valor, Noah, Hannah and Philomena. His step granddaughter Cathy (Matt) Bacon and step greatgrandchildren, Jordan, Kylie and Madison and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on May 14, 2024, at 11:30 am at St. Matthew’s Church, Bristol. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Plainville Food Pantry.
