Robert Schroeder Obituary

Robert Lee Schroeder, 78, of Middletown, CT, passed away peacefully February 24 th
surrounded by loved ones. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Robert
Alan Schroeder and Jean Bliss Schroeder.

Robert “Bobby” grew up in Greenwich, CT, as the eldest child with his three sisters
Susan Milici (Al) of Columbia, CT, Sandra Mahlstedt (Steve) of Trumbull, CT and
Barbara Fallon (John) of Fairfield, CT. He was a beloved brother, uncle, cousin, son,
spouse, partner and friend whose warmth, wit, and creativity left a lasting impression on
everyone who knew him.

Growing up in Greenwich, Robert loved to hike, fish, work on his boat and explore with
his little sister, Susie. In his youth, he developed his love of photography, art and the
beauty of nature. While at Greenwich High School, he worked for a summer or two at
the old Merritt Parkway Toll booths. He also attended Woodstock in 1969, a memory he
loved to talk about.

A graduate from the University of Bridgeport with a Batchelor of Arts degree in Graphic
Design, Robert built a long and successful career as an Art Director and photographer.
His work and talents touched many publications including Motorboat, Sail, Leisure
Guides, Trailer Life, Rider and American Rider magazines, reflecting his appreciation of
the arts and the outdoors. He loved his career and the many special friendships he
made along the way.

After college, he lived in Cambridge, MA while working in Boston, and in his early 30’s
landed a job with TL Enterprises which took him to California to follow his career. There
he met his wife, Pamela, and they built a full life in their Moorpark home they loved with
their beloved cats. They liked to travel, entertain, horseback ride, bike and built lifelong
friendships. After his wife’s death, he returned to New England in 2021 and settled in
Middletown, CT to be closer to family. He took great pleasure in working on his new
home, his garden and feeding his birds. There, “Rob” found joy, companionship and
love again with Andrea Cetera, who shared his appreciation for nature, cooking,
entertaining, traveling and life’s quiet pleasures.

He was predeceased by his wife, Pamela, his parents, aunts, uncles and a sister-in-law.
In addition to his partner, sisters and their families, Bobby leaves behind numerous
nieces, nephews, cousins and a sister-in-law who meant a great deal to him.

A private memorial will be held at a later date to celebrate Robert’s life and the
memories he shared with those who loved him.

Donations in his honor can be made to the National Audubon Society; Audubon.org.
