Robert (Bob) A. Schroeder, 94, of Bristol, husband of Marion (Janke) Schroeder was called home to heaven on June 21, 2022 after a long illness. Bob was born in Bristol on October 27, 1927 to Karl and Ida (Spadjinske) Schroeder and was married for 69 years. He is survived by his wife Marion and daughter Beth Schroeder both of Bristol. He served his country in the army for 5 ½ years in WWII and Korean War and retired as a Staff Sergeant. He attended Bristol schools and graduated from Ward School of Electronics and worked at Pratt & Whitney for over 37 years as an electronic technician.
Bob was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and volunteered for 65 years counting the weekly offerings and was active in the Adult Fellowship and he bowled in the Lutheran’s Laymen’s League. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed going to Red Sox games and to UCONN Women’s basketball games and to several Final Fours.
He is predeceased by his parents, an infant son, Mark Robert Schroeder and his sister Ruth, brothers Carl, Edward and Richard and sister-in-law Jane J. Logan and her husband Howard. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to health issues, the family requests that no flowers be sent and those attending the calling hours or memorial service, please refrain from wearing scented products.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Pines for the loving care they provided.
Calling hours will be held on July 23, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 10:00 followed by a memorial service to celebrate his life at 11:00 followed by military honors. Memorials can be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Orphan Grain Train, 154 Meadow St, Bristol, CT 06010.
