Robin Carter Thomas
September 21, 1945 ~ December 18, 2020 (age 75)
Robin Thomas, 75, died peacefully December 18, 2020 in New Britain, CT.
Robin was born in Rochester, NY and graduated from Pittsford (NY) High School in 1963. She received an undergraduate degree from Middlebury College in 1967. She married her first husband Richard Ross in 1967, and they moved to Portland, OR where she received a teaching degree from Reed College. She then taught high school in various public and alternative settings for several years. They welcomed son Eli in 1972. Robin returned to school in 1979, receiving a degree in nursing, and later becoming a family nurse practitioner. She especially loved caring for children and families, working as a nurse in various hospital, private practice, school, and public health department settings until her retirement in 2014. She married Carl Addy in 1988.
She wanted to be remembered as a loyal friend, who loved her family and friends, a lover of nature, and of those people who lived to serve the common good. She also enjoyed books, history, corresponding with friends, volunteering, and being outdoors. While raised in upstate New York, she embraced the Pacific Northwest, exploring its many waterfalls, hiking trails, and ski paths with family and friends.
Her kindness, generosity, and friendship will be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her son Eli (Megan) Ross, grandchildren Finley, Katherine and Meredith of Vernon, CT and her two sisters, Christine Quencer of Coral Gables, FL and Nan Berke of Scarsdale, NY. She is predeceased by her husband Carl.
A virtual memorial service will be held in January 2021.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Confluence Project or the Alzheimer’s Association.
