Obituary

Roland E. Mailloux, of Berlin and formerly of Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2023 at the age of 73.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island he was the son of late Lionel and Gertrude (Marchessault) Mailloux.

He served his country with distinction as a member of the US Army Special Forces Green Beret before graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Connecticut State University. He served as a Connecticut State Marshall in Hartford County for over 30 years.

He was an active member of Saint Paul’s Church in Kensington (Berlin),  Connecticut. He enjoyed watching college basketball, especially his UConn Huskies, men and women’s games and PGA golf tournaments.

Roland is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife Norma (Perry) Mailloux to whom he was happily married to for 52 years. He is also survived by his loving daughter, Diane (Mailloux) Sartor, and son in law Richard Sartor of Middlefield, CT, as well as his son, Marc Mailloux of Arlington, TX. He is also survived by his four grandchildren Maxwell, Dylan, Blake and Keirra Sartor of Middlefield, CT who were his pride and joy.  He also leaves five beloved siblings and their spouses: Dolorese Renaud and her late husband Frank, Lionel Mailloux and his wife Justine, Robert Mailloux and his wife Jane, Marie Carabillo and her late husband Dennis, and Marcelle Mailloux as well as several nieces and nephews.

Roland’s family was his main focus and true passion. He and Norma were true partners in life, and they were involved with everything that their family did. He was a golf coach and target shooting buddy to his grandsons and the number one fan at every concert, play and dance competition his grandchildren were involved with. He enjoyed spending time with his siblings with dinners out, cards games and endless discussions and laughs. He was incredibly caring and generous to his family, and they can take comfort in the fact that they made the most of their time with him. He enriched the life of each and every family member. He was a wonderful husband, brother, father and most of all grandfather. Papa Rollie will be missed dearly.

A funeral and memorial mass will be held at Saint Paul’s Church, 485 Alling Street in Kensington (Berlin), Connecticut on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 10:00am.
