Russell Kowaleski Obituary

Russell (Russ) Kowaleski, 68, of New Britain, CT passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Deborah (Oddi) Kowaleski for 42 years and the devoted father of Sarah Kowaleski.

Russ was born and raised in New Britain, CT, son of the late Charles and Nellie (Wix) Kowaleski.  During the years of growing up in Pinnacle Heights, he enjoyed many adventures and had fond memories with his longtime friends.  Russ attended and graduated from E.C. Goodwin Technical High School.  With his Mom and sister Kathy, they took many fun road trips to Texas to visit family and venture to new places. Russ was a retired machinist from MTU Aero Aircraft.  Highly intelligent and always the first one up in the morning, a hard worker and quick with a witty remark or answer that would make you roar in laughter. Russ was a loving brother, husband and father whose passion was taking care of his family, working on house projects, gardening, and enjoying the company he was with. If he didn’t know how to fix it or build it he would figure it out. He always loved a challenge which he learned from his Dad, however, picked up his stubbornness from his adored Mom.  He attended every annual Kowaleski picnic and enjoyed making the extra special Polish meat loaf.  He would absorb himself into science fiction books and movies, enjoyed Pink Floyd, NFL and going to UCONN Football games with his brother. He was amazing in the kitchen and was always up for creating wonderful new dishes and appetizers for family and friends, especially making his delicious home fries.  Russ will be greatly missed by all that love him and especially that fabulous smile!!

Russ is survived by his: wife, Deborah; daughter, Sarah and her partner Oscar Contreras of Portland, OR.; brother, Ken Kowaleski of Florida; sister, Kathy (Kowaleski) Ferreira and her husband John of Maine; aunt, Nancy Kowaleski of Newington, CT.; nephews, Kiley and Ryan Kowaleski; sister-in–law, Susan (Oddi) Wasik and husband Walter of Newington, their children Michelle Wasik and her companion Robert Chonko of Ansonia, Sarah (Wasik) Wadle and her husband Jim of Ivoryton, David Wasik and his wife Amy of Cromwell; and several grand nieces, nephews, CT & TX cousins and friends.
