Shelly Ayn Hatheway, 45, of Plantsville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in the arms of her husband, after a long 18 month courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was born in Waterbury to Stephen and Sandra Nackowski on November 21, 1975. Shelly was a graduate of Southington High School and a lifelong resident. For many years Shelly owned a home daycare and loved caring for and teaching children. Prior to her diagnosis Shelly had the pleasure of working at Southington Coffee House where she felt at home and was so upset when she was forced to take a leave of absence. She always loved singing karaoke and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Shelly was a devoted wife and mother who was extremely proud of her children and their talents.
Besides her parents, Shelly is survived by her husband Christopher Hatheway and their three children, Nick, Kyle and Alivia; her brother Stephen Nackowski III and his wife Kortney; three nieces and one nephew; as well as her best friend Janine Degumbia whom she spoke with daily. Her memory will be cherished by all who loved her. Shelly truly was a genuine, kind hearted soul who lit up the room with her contagious smile and laugh. She has touched the hearts of all who knew her and will be missed terribly.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Shelly Hatheway's go fund me page.
