Steven Darrell Fortier

Steven Darrell Fortier passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus, on 10/26/20 at Hartford Hospital.

He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Norma Fortier of Coventry CT and his brother, Michael of Altoona PA. He is survived by his daughter, Emily Fortier of Port Henry NY, grandchildren, Daniel and Nancy, brother, Joseph K. Fortier, sisters, Patricia Benjamin, Marion Ostaszewski, and Donna Colwell, long-time friend and companion, Sandra Roy, and many nephews and nieces.

After graduation from Coventry High School in 1974, Mr. Fortier proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He completed his military service in the CT Army National Guard Reserves, retiring with the rank of SGT/E5. Steven loved to be with people. He always had a ready smile and greeting for every- one he met. He was proud of his daughter and grandchildren. Steven enjoyed getting together with his family at the local Thread City Diner. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed going to baseball games. He always wore a Red Sox or Marine ball cap. Special thanks to the Hartford Hospital Palliative Care Team, Hospice Team, and nursing staff of CB3 for their kindness, compassion, and excellent nursing care during Stevens final days.

The Luddy and Peterson Funeral Home is assisting the family with final arrangements. There will be no viewing hours. A memorial gathering will be scheduled at a later date, when the pandemic situation permits. Steven will be interned at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown with military honors in a private graveside service.
