Steven Motyka

Steven D. Motyka, longtime resident of Wethersfield, CT, passed away on January 5th, 2024.  He was 46 years old.  Born in New Britain, he was the son of James S. Motyka and Kathleen S. Motyka.  He graduated from Berlin High School class of 1995 and from CCSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in business.  He was employed at Voya Financial Services Company and worked in the 401(k) department.

He was an avid sports enthusiast and loved all teams Boston.  He played all sports growing up but golf was his passion.  He played on the Berlin High School golf team and was part of the 1993 State Championship team, as well as coming in second in the individual State Championship Golf tournament at Watertown Country Club in 1995.  He played golf for the CCSU team as well.  He loved music and attending concerts especially his favorite bands Phish and Disco Biscuits.  He adored his two nieces and nephew and will be remembered for his kind heart and free spirit.

He is survived by his father, James S. Motyka of Kensington, brother and sister in law Kevin & Lynneiya Motyka of Kensington, and sister Jane Wilson of Newington.  Also his nephew, Shawn Wilson and his two nieces, Liyah Motyka & Brooklyn Wilson.  He was predeceased by his mother Kathleen S Motyka of Kensington, his maternal grandparents Donald & Alice Stanton of Berlin and paternal grandparents Steven and Mary Motyka of Berlin and three uncles.

There will be no calling hours and a private burial.  There will be a celebration of life ceremony at a later date.
