Therese M. Stone

  Therese Marie,(Richard),(Fortier) Stone, 93, of Southbury was given her wings to be with God on May 14, 2024. 

   Therese was born Nov. 10, 1930 in the village of St. Pierre du Broughton, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of the late Pierre & Leontine (Maheux) Richard.

   She grew up working on the family farm and moved to Waterbury, CT in her late teens to help her older sister who was having health issues.

   Widowed with 4 small children at age 29, a loving home was accomplished by working at various manufacturing jobs and a close extended family.

   Always the first to volunteer to help, she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, knit items for Sr. Yvonne's Workshop and helped at ST. Anne's Bingo.

   Keeping to her faith, she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and the Blessed Sacrament Prayer Group.

   Therese is survived by her sons Michael Fortier (Rosemarie) of Southbury, and Norman Fortier (Cathy) of Bonneau, SC and her daughter Carol Olson (Douglas) of Cowpens, SC. She also leaves 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, and several generations of loving nieces and nephews throughout the US and Canada.

   Therese was predeceased by her husband's Armand A. Fortier and Raymond K. Stone, her sons Homer and Philip Fortier, her parents, 4 brothers and 7 sisters.

   The family would like to thank everyone who has given her loving care throughout her life and especially during her later years of declining health at the Lutheran Home in Southbury.

   Her loving presence and easy humor will be missed by all.

Graveside service will be July 16th at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury, CT at 10am.
