Thomas Adams Obituary

On November 12, 2021 Thomas Walter Adams passed away surrounded by loving family and friends at Saint Raphael’s Hospital. He grew up and attended school in Meriden, where he lived most of his life. As a young man, he joined the Army and proudly served his country as an Army Recovery Specialist. After returning home, he learned many useful trades and skills and worked as a mechanic, a steelworker, a carpenter and roofer, and owned several small businesses.

Tommy constantly offered to help people in any way that he could and almost always had a smile and a funny observation about life and people. He was just 13 years old when he built a bicycle from spare parts for his much younger brother and taught him to ride it. As an older man he worked tirelessly to build wonderful handcrafted kitchen cabinets and counters for a home that he gave to his children and grandchildren as a gift. His life in between is filled with many similar unselfish acts of love and generosity. Tommy loved fishing and classic cars. Most of all he loved any opportunity to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Tommy was married more than once and expressed fondness for his former spouse and her family his entire life, including his mother-in-law Eleanor Jacobs, his former spouse Colleen (Saucier) Adams and her siblings Dennis, James and Kellilyn (Saucier) Woods.

Tommy was predeceased by his grandparents, his father and mother, Walter and Ruth Adams, his brother Jeffrey, his close friend Leo Hauptman, and his brothers-in-law Peter and Clifford Saucier. He is survived by his brothers Douglas, Keith, Roger, Ross, Scott, David, his sons Shane and Nicholas Adams, his spouse Lynn Cathy Adams, step daughter Amy Distefano, and his grandchildren Jeremy, Angelina, Kourtney, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and other relatives.
