Thomas Leo Beaudoin, 87, of Barkhamsted, Connecticut, passed away at home on Tuesday,
May 13, from complications related to Parkinson’s Disease.
Born in Winsted, Connecticut, in 1937, Tom was the son of Leo and Marie (Lemelin) Beaudoin.
He graduated as salutatorian from the Gilbert School in 1955, attended Lehigh University in
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Administration with
highest honors from the University of Connecticut in 1963.
Tom served in the U.S. Army Security Agency. Over the course of his career, he held a variety of
roles supporting financial computer systems in the banking, manufacturing, and insurance
industries. He worked as a consultant with Republic Systems and Programming Inc. in Cheshire
and later with Computer Assistance Inc. in West Hartford, where he was named Director of
Systems Planning and Senior Systems Officer in 1974. In 1978, he became Vice President of
SOLAR Services Inc., a financial information retrieval company. He concluded his professional
career as a financial business analyst at U.S. Surgical, a division of Tyco Healthcare.
Tom was also a dedicated artist. He began painting in 1963, and in 1975 was honored as Artist
of the Month by the Litchfield County Art Association for his still life paintings and landscapes.
As a resident of Barkhamsted for over 55 years, he served as President of the Barkhamsted
Lions Club and participated in town governance. Tom was an enthusiastic supporter of
community theatre and was involved with both the Pleasant Valley Players and Rainbow
Summertime Theater.
Tom was a soft-spoken, kind and quiet man who showed his love and caring for others in acts of
service. He loved to do art, theater and yardwork, and spend lots of time with his
grandchildren, especially when they were little. He had a good sense of humor throughout his
life and joked with others a lot. Tom also enjoyed reading books, especially mysteries and
books about science and philosophy; in his later years as his vision declined, he enjoyed having
books read to him by his wife, Carol.
Tom married Carol Miller in 1983 and is survived by her and by his daughter Leslie Evans and
her husband David Evans of Malone, New York; their children Dylan Evans (with partner
Kimberly Cole) of Torrington, Connecticut, and Travis Evans (with partner Bella Reville) of
Malone, New York. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Sandi Gubin and her husband Jim
Propp of Belmont, Massachusetts, and their children Adam and Eliana Propp-Gubin. In addition,
he is survived by his sister Geraldine Turner of Bethany, Connecticut.
He was predeceased by his siblings Bernadette Gandy, Lorraine Useforge, Yvonne Beaudoin,
and Norman Beaudoin.
Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
