Thomas Capezzone Obituary

Thomas Vincent Capezzone, a lifetime resident of Guilford, passed away peacefully at
home with those he loved most, on December 5, 2025. Born on July 14, 1930, as one of
twelve eventual children, he enjoyed a long life surrounded constantly by family and
friends.

Son of Lebro Capezzone and Josephine (Arameni) Capezzone, who emigrated from
Roccasecca, Italy, Thomas leaves behind sisters Alice Beeny and Dolores Rusconi and
his brother Julio Capezzone, as well as his three children Susan Capezzone, Sharon
Roughton, and Thomas Capezzone II, son-in-law Richard Roughton, grandson Michael
Thomas Gell and his wife Hannah Roncallo, along with his great grandchildren Lenore
and Fionn Gell. Thomas was predeceased by siblings Angelo, Josephine, Felicia, Rose,
Lucia, Lebro, Patricia, and Celestino, as well as his wife Doreen.

Thomas met the love of his life as a teenager when she moved in next door on Water
Street. They married on May 7, 1955, and were lucky to spend the next sixty-five years
happily in love. A well decorated veteran of the Korean War, Thomas served proudly in
the U.S. Army and received a purple heart along with a UN Service Medal, a Korean
Service Medal with two bronze stars, a National Defense Service Medal, and a Combat
Infantry Badge.

After his years of service, Tom worked as a plumber, an electrician, a steam fitter, a
stone mason, and a tin knocker before finishing his career with Guilford Public Works
for over forty years. As a lifelong resident of Guilford, Tom developed many business
and personal relationships, including very special bonds amongst his childhood
friends. He enjoyed his retirement years with his wife Doreen and their close group of
friends and family. Clamming and crabbing were among his favorite pastimes, a love he
passed along to his kids and his grandson Michael, and a tradition that will live on. Tom
and Doreen loved watching Uconn basketball, New York Yankees baseball, playing
cards with friends, family parties, and attending all of Michael’s baseball games.
“Gramp” was blessed to welcome two great grandchildren into the world and
thoroughly enjoyed the special time he was able to spend with both Lenore and Fionn.

A loving father and husband, a caring brother and son, a wonderful grandfather, a
decorated veteran, a highly skilled tradesman and craftsman, a trusted friend, a good
man. Thomas Vincent Capezzone was loved by all and will be remembered proudly by
those he leaves behind. If you knew him well enough and you listen carefully, you will
still hear his contagious laugh today. May he be reunited with his true love, Doreen,
eternally.

A memorial service will be planned at a future date. Please join us to celebrate his, and
their lives together.
