In Loving Memory of Thomas David Doolittle

Sunset: June 26, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas David Doolittle, who entered eternal rest on June 26, 2026.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Thomas was raised in Wethersfield Connecticut, and later made his home in New Britain, Connecticut, where he built a life centered on hard work, family, and helping others. He was a dedicated heavy-duty equipment mechanic whose skill, determination, and strong work ethic earned the respect of everyone who knew him.

Outside of work, Thomas was a gifted craftsman. He had a passion for building and restoring cars, woodworking, and constructing beautiful patios. He took pride in creating things with his hands, but his greatest gift was the kindness he showed to others. If someone needed help, Thomas was always willing to lend a hand without hesitation.

Thomas shared 30 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Josefina Gonzalez. Their life together was built on love, devotion, and countless cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew them.

He was a loving husband, father, and friend who had a heart of gold. Thomas was known for his generosity, his infectious sense of humor, and his ability to make others smile. His jokes, laughter, and warm personality brightened every room he entered. He believed in helping others and found joy in making people’s lives a little easier.

Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Sherwood Doolittle and Patricia (Tudesco) Doolittle, whom he now joins in eternal peace.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Josefina Gonzalez; his four biological children, Jason Peruccio, Benjamin Doolittle, Shane Gustafson, and Dynesha Doolittle; and two children whom he lovingly helped raise alongside his wife, Akasha Acevedo and Jeniye Acevedo.

Thomas is survived by his four siblings, Peter and his wife Maryann (Clark), Kenneth and his wife Catherine (Rataic), Su-Ann and her husband Frank (Seidl), and Jonathan as well as several nieces and nephews. Additionally, Thomas is survived by his father’s wife Elizabeth Doolittle and their children, siblings, Shawn Doolittle and Jessica Doolittle. He also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and everyone whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity.

Though our hearts are filled with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Thomas’s love, laughter, and legacy will live on through those who knew and loved him. His memory will forever remind us to be kind, to work hard, to help others, and never miss an opportunity to bring a smile to someone’s face.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

Forever Loved. Forever Missed. Forever Remembered.

____________

May his memory be a blessing, and may his legacy continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
