Victoria Ramus Santi
August 22, 1932 - September 9, 2025
It is with a mixture of sadness, love and joy that we share the news of Victoria Ramus
Santi’s passing peacefully at dawn on Tuesday September 9th, 2025.
Sadness of losing this amazing woman, the love in all our hearts that we shared life
with her and the joy that she lived life to the fullest. Victoria and our dad, Richard,
shared a long life together, sharing love, children, family life, music and adventure.
They were married for over 66 years when he passed in November of 2018. Vickie will
always remain in our hearts as one of a kind, therefore precious and miraculous.
Mom was born 93 years ago in Springfield Massachusetts and spent the early part of
her life in Shelburne Falls Massachusetts which was a beautiful memory that she
carried all her life when she lived with her foster parents whom she called Mr. and Mrs.
Blaze.
When her mom, Helen, married our grandfather John Ramus, mom moved to New
Britain Connecticut at the age of 8 was adopted by John at 10 years old. Mom met and
married the love of her life, our dad Richard, when she was 19 years old and our dad
was 20.
The first of their five children, Tricia, was born the next year and Paul, Gary, Marie and
Roger followed. Mom always said the best part of her life was that she got to be a
mother to her five children, whom she loved dearly. Shirley entered the family and has
been married to our brother Gary for 46 years. Other spouses and former spouses are
included in mom’s heart as well, Aram Aslanian, Maria Petit-Homme, Vivian Haywood,
Bill Webb, Matt Olson, Tom McGrath, Dennis Comprone, Jackie Schwartz and Jill Godfrey.
Mom’s family grew larger as her children married and gave birth to their children.
Mom was very proud of her 9 grandchildren and their partners, Erik and Jen, Cori, Ryan
and Surhetta, Garrett and Prerana, Kelsey and Chris, Christian and Jessica, Jeffrey,
Alexander, Sergina and John.
Mom’s parents Helen and John Ramus predeceased her as well as her younger sister,
Yvonne. Family members include her younger brother John and his wife Rita and son
John, Bob Paradis, husband of Yvonne, niece Deb Litwinko, husband Yuri and Deb’s
children, Adam, Amber, Lyzi, Katie and Carter. Nephew Mark and his wife Nicole and
their baby boy on the way. Ben Bouchard and Adam Litwinko, Nephew Lloyd and wife
Karen, their daughters Alison and Melissa. Predeceased are nephew Neil, Robert and
Luisa Santi, Eleanor Santi and Catherine and Clito Santi. Also, from our dad’s family are
cousins Nancy Ferenc, Elaine Osipowicz, Mike and Judy Smith, Patti Smith Andrew Brescia Liz Brown, Bob and Patty
Cole, Anamae Cole and her husband Bill Cole, predeceased. Please know that there
are many other family and friends not named here that are loved and loved our mom in
this big Polish/Italian family.
In mom’s work life she was most proud of her role as Office Manager of Lodge 1137,
Union Office where she worked for 25 years. She loved working with the union officers
and helping the union members with whatever they needed including when members
went on strike for better wages and benefits. Her favorite part was listening to their
stories and sharing hers.
Once mom retired from as Office Manager, she and our dad opened up a used book
store and mom totally loved the books, the people and the conversations. All the while
the bookstore was opened; mom also supported our dad with his music career and
family life. Mom’s life was full.
When our dad became less independent, mom loved and supported him at home the
best she could. When the last year required a nursing home setting for dad, mom was
there every day, caring for him, advocating for him and taking him out to lunch, a car
ride or an afternoon at a lake in Mansfield. She was his champion.
Victoria lived her long life with determination and a fiery spirit that was hers alone. She
always gave it her to all. Whether it is was making a family dinner, hugging a child, a
grandchild, or holding a loved one’s hand. Sharing tea with a friend, watching a sunrise,
or taking a walk in the woods. These simple pleasures of life were so important to
Vickie and family always family!
For the last year of her life, mom lived at Saint Joseph’s Living Center and here too she
made the most of life there. She attended Mass in their chapel, enjoyed the beautiful
outdoor courtyard, participated in music events, shared meals in the dining room with
friends and always stopped to talk to residents who seemed alone or unhappy, she
would hold their hand and talk to them kindly. Mom had a way of making people know
she really cared and really knew them. She loved to help others and make them smile.
We honor mom’s life and say goodbye to a woman who was wife, mother, grandmother,
daughter, sister, cousin and friend to many. A woman who valued family, love, honesty
and friendship with all her heart, we will dearly miss you mom.
