BARKHAMSTED -- Wendy Marie Zdancewicz, 55, of Barkhamsted, passed away Nov. 4, 2023. She slipped away in her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Dec. 16, 1967, in Torrington, daughter of Richard Shaia of Dade City, Fla. and predeceased by her mother Joan (Egliskis) Shaia, Wendy attended Torrington High School and moved early on to Florida, enjoying the beaches and made many friends. She moved back to Connecticut in 1998 where she met her soul mate and best friend, Edward, and they married in 2002.

Back in Connecticut, Wendy worked for Caldor's, TJ Maxx, and Walmart until she found her home of 15 years at CVS Pharmacy. She held many different positions at many different locations.

In addition to her parents, Wendy leaves behind her husband of 21 years, Edward D. Zdancewicz Jr. of Barkhamsted; sister Melissa Shaia of Torrington; brother Wayne Egliskis (Gina) of Tucson, Ariz.; sister-in-law MaryEllen Zdancewicz of Virginia Beach, Va., who put her life on hold to come and be with her and help with her caregiving; many aunts, uncles, nephew, nieces and cousins.

Wendy also leaves behind her adored fur kids Harley, Greta, and Ella, who faithfully stayed by her side during her illness.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 11, at St. Joseph Church at 186 Main St., Winsted, at 10 a.m. A celebration of life will be immediately after at the Franciscan Meeting Room, 31 Oak St., Winsted, in back of the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to greet the family and share fond memories.
